Tax Senior – Job description
The role will be of a ‘Tax Senior’ engaged in the control of the tax compliance function for a number of corporate and personal clients. As a general practice, this will entail dealing with and advising on almost every aspect of tax to a varied client base.
The role will require a good knowledge across all of the main taxes as it will involve giving advice to both team members and to clients as well as being able to deal with all of the statutory compliance requirements in dealing with personal and corporate taxation.
The ability to produce accurate work in a time-pressured environment is essential.
Good oral and written communications skills will be required to speak to clients, other advisers and our team members and well as neat hand-writing (as there are still a number of HMRC forms that need to be completed by manuscript).
Develop a good understanding of each of our clients in order to provide a pro-active service in a timely fashion.
Manage the control of the tax compliance function for tax returns, P11Ds and CT61s.
Review corporation tax computations and corporation tax returns.
Prepare complex personal and partnership tax returns.
Provide technical advice to other members of the team on all heads of tax, including corporation tax, income tax, capital gains tax, inheritance tax, VAT and employment tax.
Have a sound understanding, technical knowledge and experience of all taxes, especially relating to employment tax and corporation tax.
Assist in the computations of pre-year end tax planning for personal tax clients and corporate clients.
Assist in pro-active activities such as EIS, SEIS applications.
Have direct contact with all clients to assist clients and deal with any issues arising.
Prepare fees for work completed.
Identify tax planning opportunities for clients.
Be aware of changes and intended changes to tax legislation and the potential effects on clients.
The successful candidate will need to be well-organised
This role will be suited to either someone who wishes to progress their current technical skills or qualifications as training will be provided and we will support someone wishing to pass relevant professional exams.
It is not a requirement that the individual needs to have obtained any suitable professional qualification or passed exams and they will not be obliged to sit exams in the future.
A good working knowledge and experience of all taxes will be essential as the successful candidate will be expected to immediately fit in with an active team, dealing with all aspects of personal and corporate tax.
Our preference would be for a full-time, experienced, individual. The minimum working hours are Monday to Friday, 9.00am to 5.00pm on a fixed annual salary.
The salary on offer will depend on the successful candidate’s experience and current qualifications.

Part-time hours would be considered for a suitable candidate but that would not be our preference.
